Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree awarding Rafael Gevorgyan, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Iran, with the Order of Courage.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Gevorgyan received the prestigious award for "courage and bravery displayed in the performance of professional duties." Russian Ambassador to Iran, Alexey Dedov, was also honored with a similar distinction for his service in the region.

In addition to the senior leadership, the Medal "For Courage" was bestowed upon Andrey Alyonkin, Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Rasht, and several employees of the Russian Embassy in Tehran, including Andrey Ganenko, Ruslan Ilmambetov, Aleksandr Mamedov, Valeri Malyshev, Nikita Parfeev, and Vitali Belko. These awards are typically granted to individuals who demonstrate exceptional bravery under life-threatening conditions or during significant diplomatic challenges.

The Order of Courage is one of Russia's high-ranking state decorations, established to recognize selfless acts of bravery and devotion to duty. In the context of diplomatic service, such awards often highlight the increasingly complex and high-risk environments in which foreign service officers operate. This recognition comes as Russia continues to strengthen its strategic and diplomatic ties with Iran, navigating a sophisticated geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.
