Relations between Azerbaijan and the United States are entering a completely new stage, President Ilham Aliyev announced during a joint press statement with US Vice President JD Vance.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation following high-level discussions. "The document we signed with our distinguished guest covers various areas of our cooperation. We will continue our partnership in security and collaborate in counter-terrorism operations. We will also build cooperation on energy security issues," President Ilham Aliyev stated. He further noted that Azerbaijan currently contributes to the energy security of 16 countries through its natural gas resources, 11 of which are NATO members and allies of the United States.
This diplomatic milestone comes as US President Donald Trump's administration seeks to strengthen strategic partnerships in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan has long played a pivotal role as a reliable energy provider for Europe, particularly through the Southern Gas Corridor. The deepening of ties between Baku and Washington reflects a shared commitment to regional stability, global energy diversification, and the fight against international terrorism, reinforcing Azerbaijan's position as a key strategic partner for the West in the Caspian region.
