President Ilham Aliyev receives new German ambassador

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the country, Dirk Lölke, today.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

The head of state held a conversation with the ambassador.

Recalling his official visit to Germany last month with satisfaction, the head of state emphasized that productive discussions were held with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding bilateral relations and international issues. He noted that the views of both countries on regional stability, security, and development align. Highlighting the identification of new areas for potential cooperation, which have led to mutual understanding and the development of the partnership, the head of state emphasized the importance of the "Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany" signed in Berlin, noting that it has elevated relations to a qualitatively higher level.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that today, the two nations are discussing strategic interactions in many areas, and the existing opportunities in trade, investment, and business are strengthening bilateral ties. The head of state pointed out that the ambassador is beginning his mission in Azerbaijan following his official visit to Germany, which is very important for the future development of bilateral relations.

The head of state wished the ambassador success in his activities.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Dirk Lölke conveyed his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the first anniversary of the summit held between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington on August 8 of last year.

For his part, the head of state reiterated that the peace agenda in the region was initiated by Azerbaijan, that the country will continue its efforts to advance this peace agenda, and that peace in the region is now irreversible.

The ambassador noted that the German government is very pleased with the results of President Ilham Aliyev's visit. He expressed hope that the discussed matters would be implemented soon.

The meeting highlighted the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union and the positive dynamics observed in the development of these ties in recent times. Discussions also touched upon the East-West transport corridor and the opportunities for German companies to utilize the potential of this route in the future, as well as cooperation in the fields of traditional and renewable energy, and education.
