The original appearance of the Nizami Cinema Center's facade, which had been defaced with graffiti, has been fully restored. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA) released a statement confirming the completion of the restoration work.
The agency reported that during the night of April 1-2, an unknown individual or group of individuals committed an act of vandalism by spray-painting various words and scribbles across the facade of the historic building. "As a result of the measures taken, the consequences of this act of barbarism were eliminated in a short period of time. The initial appearance of the building's facade has already been restored," the official statement noted.
The Nizami Cinema Center, located in the heart of Baku, is a state-protected historical monument that contributes significantly to the capital's architectural landscape. Under the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the protection of such cultural heritage sites is a legal requirement. The building, originally opened in 1934, remains one of the oldest and most prestigious cinemas in the country, serving as a primary venue for international film festivals and high-level cultural events in Azerbaijan.
