Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye met on the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Turkistan to discuss the advancement of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the leaders focused on the further development of comprehensive strategic partnership relations and the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. It was noted that bilateral relations have reached a new qualitative level following President Mirziyoyev's visit to Ankara in January, leading to strengthened ties between ministries and departments and the establishment of a more efficient system of interaction.
The leaders highlighted a dynamic increase in trade turnover, the number of joint ventures, and flight frequencies since the beginning of the year. A robust portfolio of investment projects involving Turkish companies is currently being implemented across various sectors of the Uzbek economy. Furthermore, the presidents exchanged views on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the Turkic world.
The meeting takes place within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, an intergovernmental organization comprising several Turkic countries, including Azerbaijan. The OTS aims to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking states in areas such as economy, politics, and culture, serving as a vital platform for regional integration and the strengthening of historical ties between member nations.
