Lois Openda is set to finalize his permanent transfer to Juventus as the mandatory purchase clause in his contract has been officially triggered. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media outlets, the 40.6 million euro buyout clause has automatically come into effect.
The agreement stipulates that the total transfer fee could increase further through performance-related bonuses. Consequently, the 26-year-old forward will not return to RB Leipzig, the club that originally signed him from Lens in 2023 for a fee of 40 million euros. Openda had joined the Turin-based side last summer on a season-long loan deal worth approximately 4 million euros.
Despite the high valuation of the transfer, the Belgian international has had a challenging season in Italy. To date, Openda has managed to score only two goals in 33 appearances for Juventus across all competitions. RB Leipzig, known for its strategic player trading model, continues to demonstrate its ability to generate significant returns on investment, having now recouped their initial expenditure on the striker through this permanent move to the Serie A giants.
