The Latvian government has transferred 187 vehicles to Ukraine free of charge, all of which were confiscated from drivers found operating vehicles while intoxicated since the beginning of 2026.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this initiative was confirmed by international media outlets.

According to the reports, the fleet of vehicles sent to Ukraine includes a variety of transport types, ranging from off-road vehicles and quad bikes to minibuses.

It has been noted that the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers is scheduled to discuss the transfer of an additional 21 vehicles to Ukraine next week. Should the decision be approved, the total number of vehicles provided to Ukraine this year will reach 208.

Latvia has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine since the onset of the conflict, providing various forms of military and humanitarian aid. The repurposing of confiscated vehicles from traffic offenders serves as a practical measure to bolster Ukraine's logistical capabilities during the ongoing war.
