ABŞ-dəki soyuq hava "Bitcoin" mədənçiliyinə də təsir göstərib

The severe cold wave sweeping across the United States and the resulting surge in electricity demand have led to a 37 percent decrease in the computing power (hashrate) of Bitcoin miners.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that the extreme weather conditions have forced a significant scale-back in mining operations due to the high energy requirements of the industry.

According to data, the computing power on the Bitcoin network recorded a 37 percent decline on January 25 compared to January 23. Experts state that Bitcoin miners are temporarily shutting down their computing rigs to alleviate pressure on electrical grids that are currently overloaded due to the freezing temperatures and increased heating needs across the country.

The United States has become a global hub for cryptocurrency mining following shifts in international regulations over recent years. This incident highlights the growing intersection between digital asset infrastructure and national energy security. During periods of extreme weather, many mining firms operate under demand-response agreements, voluntarily reducing power consumption to ensure the stability of the public energy supply for residential and essential services.
