The future contours of the global urban agenda are currently being formulated in Azerbaijan, according to Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the official shared these remarks on his X social media account in relation to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). "Despite the impacts of climate change and weather fluctuations, WUF13 kicks off with a large-scale press conference. The future contours of the global urban agenda are being formulated in Azerbaijan. With more than 40,000 participants, it is the largest WUF held to date," Hajiyev stated.
The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, serves as the premier global platform for discussing sustainable urbanization and the challenges of rapid urban growth. By hosting such significant international gatherings, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its position as a central hub for global diplomatic dialogue and sustainable development initiatives. The record-breaking attendance at this session reflects the increasing international focus on urban resilience and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in the face of global environmental challenges.
