The Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan has announced the indefinite suspension of its operations, citing the current situation in the region.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the embassy released this information through its official social media channels.
The statement noted: "Due to the events occurring in the region, the embassy has suspended its activities for an indefinite period. The acceptance of visa applications and the issuance of ready visas have also been halted. We ask you to take this into account. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan were established in 1992, following the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence. Since then, the two countries have maintained a high level of cooperation, particularly in the energy, technology, and infrastructure sectors. The embassy in Baku plays a crucial role in facilitating bilateral economic ties and providing consular services to citizens of both nations, and this suspension marks a significant temporary pause in regular diplomatic functions.
