Iran has officially welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, emphasizing the critical importance of ensuring long-term stability in the region.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei issued a statement regarding the development. The spokesperson noted that the ceasefire was made possible following negotiations between Iran and the United States, facilitated by Pakistan.

According to the statement, during discussions with regional and international parties, including meetings in Islamabad, Iran prioritized the necessity of a simultaneous ceasefire across the entire region. The MFA spokesperson praised the resilience of the Lebanese people and resistance forces against Israeli attacks and expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its mediation role over the past 24 hours, which resulted in a 10-day ceasefire agreement.

Baghaei also extended condolences to the families of those killed and reaffirmed Iran's solidarity with the people of Lebanon. The official statement further stressed the necessity of a full Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories in southern Lebanon, the release of prisoners, the return of displaced persons to their homes, and the restoration of destroyed infrastructure with international support.

The ceasefire comes amid a period of heightened regional tensions and follows extensive diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East. Historically, Lebanon has been a focal point of regional dynamics, and international mediators often seek such pauses in hostilities to facilitate humanitarian aid and broader peace negotiations. This latest development is seen as a significant step toward de-escalating the conflict that has impacted civilian infrastructure and regional security over recent months.
