Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland has temporarily suspended all flight operations following reports of suspicious drone activity in the vicinity of the capital. The measure was taken as a security precaution after unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were spotted in the restricted airspace.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Reuters, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo confirmed that the authorities are taking all necessary steps to address the situation. "The authorities are taking measures. The Defense Forces have strengthened their surveillance and response capabilities. I urge everyone to follow official announcements," the Prime Minister stated in a post on his X account.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is the largest international airport in Finland and serves as a major hub for Northern Europe. In recent months, several European nations have reported increased unauthorized drone activity near critical infrastructure, leading to heightened security protocols. This incident follows a series of similar disruptions at major international airports worldwide, where drone sightings have caused significant logistical delays and safety concerns for civil aviation.
