German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that the country's supply of gas, oil, and aviation kerosene remains stable despite ongoing tensions surrounding Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that the Chancellor expressed confidence in the nation's energy security during a recent policy update.

“Germany's supply of oil, gas, and kerosene is secured. We can all rely on this. This is very good news,” Merz noted, emphasizing that the federal government is closely monitoring global energy markets to prevent disruptions.

Government spokesperson Stefan Cornelius further clarified that the Chancellor sees no reason to transition to a crisis mode regarding energy supplies in Germany. He noted that while global market shortages caused by the closure of certain transport routes do affect Germany, the country is not experiencing an acute energy crisis.

The government official added that a slight decrease in fuel prices has been observed recently. Regarding aviation kerosene, no supply issues are currently recorded, and airports are reported to have sufficient fuel reserves. However, it was noted that price fluctuations have impacted flight schedules. Cornelius emphasized that existing reserves are sufficient to meet demand until the end of the year.

Touching upon the natural gas situation, the government spokesperson stated that gas volumes secured through global sources are at a level that will meet Germany's needs. According to him, the shortage resulting from the suspension of gas supplies from Qatar has been fully compensated. While this has had an impact on prices, the market situation remains stable.

Germany has been diversifying its energy portfolio significantly over the past few years to reduce dependency on specific regional suppliers. By expanding its infrastructure for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and strengthening ties with alternative exporters, the country aims to maintain industrial productivity and household heating stability. This strategic shift is particularly vital as geopolitical volatility in the Middle East continues to influence global energy benchmarks and maritime logistics.
