Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "Fatehin" special unit, General Mohammad Ali Fathalizadeh, has been killed as a result of a joint military operation conducted by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Fars News Agency, that the high-ranking commander was killed on April 1. The operation is part of a broader military campaign targeting strategic leadership within the Iranian security apparatus.
The military escalation follows the commencement of joint operations by the United States and Israel on February 28. These operations previously resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other high-ranking officials. In response to these developments, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes against targets in Israel, as well as locations hosting US and allied military bases in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Cyprus.
The "Fatehin" unit is a specialized volunteer force within the IRGC, often deployed for high-stakes urban warfare and rapid response operations. The loss of its commander marks a significant development in the ongoing regional confrontation involving US President Donald Trump's administration and Israeli forces. This escalation has heightened security concerns across the Middle East, impacting global energy markets and diplomatic relations in the Persian Gulf region.
