Norway national team striker Erling Haaland has become the country's all-time leading scorer in World Cup history after netting a brace in a 3-2 victory against Senegal during the second round of the 2026 World Cup group stage.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the 25-year-old forward has cemented his place in national football history by scoring four goals in just two World Cup appearances.

Haaland currently maintains his status as Norway's most prolific scorer, having netted 59 goals in 52 appearances for the national team. With this achievement, he surpasses the previous record held by Kjetil Rekdal, who had been the top Norwegian scorer in World Cup tournaments, having found the net during the 1994 and 1998 editions.

Norway currently sits in second place in Group I with 6 points, having already secured a spot in the knockout stage, while Senegal remains in third place without any points. In the third round, Norway is set to face France, and Senegal will play against Iraq, with both matches scheduled for June 26.

The FIFA World Cup remains the most prestigious tournament in international football, and such individual milestones often highlight the evolving tactical and offensive capabilities of modern national teams on the global stage.
