Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, is scheduled to visit Muscat on February 10 for official talks with Omani officials.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Mehr News Agency, that the visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations.

During the visit, Larijani is expected to meet with high-ranking officials of the Sultanate of Oman to discuss the latest regional and international developments, as well as bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The discussions come at a critical time for regional diplomacy, as Oman continues to serve as a primary intermediary in Middle Eastern geopolitical affairs.

Notably, on February 6, American and Iranian diplomats held indirect talks in Muscat, mediated by Oman, focusing on Iran's nuclear program and the potential easing of sanctions against Tehran. These negotiations are part of a broader effort to address long-standing tensions involving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and international economic restrictions. While US President Donald Trump has maintained a firm stance on regional security, the role of neutral mediators like Oman remains pivotal for diplomatic communication.

Oman has historically played a vital role as a bridge between Iran and the West, often hosting sensitive negotiations that have led to significant diplomatic breakthroughs. The Sultanate's balanced foreign policy allows it to facilitate dialogue on complex issues, including maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and regional stability. The date and location for the next round of these indirect talks have not yet been disclosed.
