A 12-year-old girl, identified as E.N., was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after sustaining fatal injuries in the village of Mahmudlu, located in the Shamkir district of Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM received confirmation of the incident from the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TƏBİB). According to official reports, the victim, born in 2014, was brought to the Emergency Department of the Shamkir District Central Hospital at approximately 21:00 yesterday, where medical staff confirmed she had already succumbed to her injuries.
Following an immediate investigation by local law enforcement, the victim's 16-year-old sister, S. Rahimova, was detained as a suspect in the case. Authorities are currently conducting further inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Prior to the discovery of the tragedy, the parents had reported the younger girl missing to the police.
Shamkir, a district in western Azerbaijan, is known for its agricultural significance and historical heritage. Such incidents involving minors are treated with the utmost seriousness by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, which oversees criminal investigations and public safety protocols across the country.
