President Ilham Aliyev provides consistent support for all spheres of culture, including the development of the art of mugham.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated by Minister of Culture Adil Karimli during his speech at the scientific-practical conference held within the framework of the III International Maqom Art Forum in Namangan, Uzbekistan.
At the conference, dedicated to the theme "New trends of Eastern Maqom: the interaction of tradition and innovation," Minister Adil Karimli emphasized that the Azerbaijani art of mugham holds a special place in the national and cultural identity of the Azerbaijani people.
Karimli noted that President Ilham Aliyev provides continuous care for all areas of culture, including the development and promotion of the art of mugham.
It was highlighted that under the leadership of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation implements various projects that make significant contributions to the preservation, protection, and promotion of Azerbaijani mugham both within Azerbaijan and on the international stage.
The International Maqom Art Forum, held biennially in Uzbekistan, serves as a significant platform for cultural diplomacy, bringing together scholars, musicians, and experts from across the Islamic world to discuss the preservation of traditional musical forms like mugham and maqom, which are recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
